Poem (Contest)

Don't leave me without a reason
Don't leave me because of my mistakes
Don't leave me without saying anything
Don't leave me until I see you,
Don't leave because I didn't care about you
Don't leave me because of our misunderstanding
Don't leave me this easily because leaving is easy for you but not for me.

If you leave me, go away like a man
I don't want to cry a because of you,
I don't want to waste my tears because of you
I don't want to make people think I am weak because of you
I don't want to blame self all the time because of you.

Don't make me think I still have a chance to be with you
Don't bring my hopes up
Don't make me lie to myself
It is hard for me to pretend like nothing is wrong
Don't make yourself regret because I won't accept you later or perhaps, never!
For me, it's better to be never than later.

The Crucible

The Crucible

The Crucible is basically about witches who caused the death in this story.  The first death scene takes place is when Mrs. Putnam's children murdered by the witches.  Mrs. Putnam was is in so much is pain and sorrow because she has lost her children and the last daughter Betty was not waking up or wasn't moving at all.  She was not moving because her and other girls were dancing in the forest.  That's why she is afraid to confess that.  Many people came and tried to know what was going on and it took place in Parris' house.
During the movie and the story a lot of people slandered of being a witch, even if they weren't, others just accused each other.  One example would be John Proctor.  Many people thought and accused that he was a witch and actually he wasn't.  He only tried to save his life, his wife's life and other innocent people's lives from the accusation of being witches.  However, no one believed him.  Abigail is one of the main characters in this story and she is the witch.  She lied to everyone and she was one of the reasons why John Proctor died.  Many believed Abigail was right and correct because her action was so real and believable.
At that period of time, being a witch was a crime because of the witches villages got destroyed and people had died.  The punishment of being a witch was to get hanged in front of the crowds.  That's how most of the innocent people have died in this story because they thought they were witches.  They would blame each other, accuse each other, lie to each other, they did everything that could take to save their lives.
John Proctor stood for himself and for others until the last minute.  He believed that "It's better to die for what you believe in rather than to lie to save your life" which he had done that.  He had a chance to live but it was to live under a lie and he didn't want that.  He died with a pride of being John Proctor.  Only few people were on his side and actually believed that he was innocent but others didn't.  At the end he and some other innocent people got carried on a cage and got hanged.

Final Essay (Civil Disobedience)

Final ( Civil Disobedience ) Culminating Task. page 225-227

Martin Luther King, Jr is one of the well known person in American History. He was the man who stood up for himself and others. He was one of the leaders of the United States’ civil rights movement in 1960’s. His courageous commitment and attend to nonviolence grabbed the nation’s respect. Back in the 60’s things were much worse than it  is now. People were discriminated and did not have the right as much as like the others. In the 60’s one of the biggest discriminations was between the black and white people. Black and white people discrimination was even there before the 60’s. However, Martin Luther King, Jr stood up against and tried to stop that happening.
In the book it says, “in April 1963, King, Jr led a campaign in Birmingham, Alabama, to end racial segregation at lunch counters and discrimination in hiring. While King and his supporters were on a peaceful march toward city hall the police turned fire hoses on them.” Which is why he went to jail and that’s how it was during those days, you march and you will get arrested. While Martin Luther King, Jr was in jail, he wrote a letter from Birmingham City Jail. He mentions that “An unjust law is no law at all.” An unjust law is a code inflicted upon a minority which that minority had no part in creating.

Martin Luther King, Jr did a lot than we know. He gave speeches and encouraged people to stand up for themselves. In those old days protestants were many compare to now. Now it became more peaceful. Protestants were chaos in the old days. They usually didn’t get what they want from protesting and they just ended up getting arrested. They had no choice but to accept the punishment and the punishments were as harsh as they could be, including death. I am not sure if they were criminals or that patriotic. However, I think they were brave enough to face any punishments that they have received.
I like to put myself into the people and try to visualize or feel how they feel or how they felt. If I were one of the protestants, I would stand up for the others and for myself. I would also be brave enough to face the punishment they would give because I want to show them that I would not give up easily. Perhaps, it might be a little foolish to sacrifice your life just for being a protestant but of course, I would take all the responsibilities if I would have a big reason behind it. In this case, it is the discrimination of races. I am glad in one way because we do not have the violences as we used to have but who knows? Violence has been there always and still will be.
On the book, it mentions that “Henry David Thoreau, Mohandas K.Gandhi, and Martin Luther King, Jr, viewed civil disobedience as important expression of citizenship,” which possibly true. Also, they all have its own little stories how them and their men chose the civil disobedience. These three men had one thing in common or maybe a few, it is peace and own rights. They believed that everyone must have its own rights and voices. They believed they would bring peace and communication, which they did it and have done it greatly.

Us, now in this generation probably don’t really know how it felt to be a part of the discriminations, slaves, protestants, and the violence they had in the civil disobedience. King, Thoreau, and Gandhi believed in themselves and for their faith they were put in a jail. However, they never gave up and that’s maybe they are still well-known and the example for us.
What Martin Luther King, Jr did was helpful in our future and especially for the black people. His speeches, his encouragement, and all of his attempts are still being useful and helpful for us. Not only him, there are few people stood up for the black people which is a big accomplishment for us. Even though, we don’t have the race discriminations now but we still do have some race issues today. Those people who stood up for us, gave us opportunities.
If we had the civil disobedience today, it would probably be a huge issue. Now that are weapons, nuclear, technologies are all upgraded and updated, it would be even violent. We see protestants sometimes now but not like as it used to. It becomes a big chaos and people get even more insane. I am still glad that we don’t see that much but violence will never stop. We must not fail what the legends did for us and must not forget.
In Martin Luther King’s letter he mentions that “ I was arrested Friday on a charge of parading without a permit. Now there is nothing wrong with an ordinance which requires a permit for a parade, but when the ordinance is used to preserve segregation and to deny citizens for the First Amendment privilege, then it becomes unjust.” That was his argument.
At the end we are human beings, and we don’t need discriminations or any such violences in our lives. We are all the same. Having violence would not change anything or make it any better. So it is better off to love each other and try our best to communicate. Nation or even world would be strong if we communicate and look forward together.

Margaret Mead

                                                             Margaret Mead essay.

Mead's argument or analysis is true. However, I'm not fully agree with it or perhaps I may be wrong. Maybe Americans can be taught to celebrate and admire the one who gets the highest grades but they still hate on them. Hating is not good and it took over people's minds. There are only few things now, that is without hatred. However, there are people that admire the highest graded people because they become its role model or even an influence.
In this life or world I don't like how things are divided in two's. For example, if a person is very successful and living well, they tend to step on the others like they are the boss. In the end we all are the same and we should help each other when they are having a hard time, instead of making them worse. Even some nice words from someone's heart makes someone's day.
I agree with how Margaret Mead said that "people who work in another profession, live in another community, or are endowed with a talent that we do not especially want for ourselves." This phrase is based on almost most of people's lives. We always try to fit in some kind of small spaces. Things always don't work out and that makes us to "endow with a talent that we do not want for ourselves."
In my opinion, not only to be successful but to spend or use the only life you might live, to spend it productively and not to look back. At least even when you remember, should have one or two things to say that made yourself proud. It would be great to be remembered and get admired of what you did or what you have done. Success is one of the greatest things in life and we must spend that wisely in our one life.
Dreaming big is one of the steps of getting successful because any person would try its hard and best to reach that goal. Once you reach you will know that it became successful. I think trying hard and not giving up is the key of life in this case "a successful life."

Autobiography

                                                          Autobiography

An autobiography about a soon graduate student named Crystal. She was born

and raised in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. She is the only child in her family. She came to the

United States in 2010. She lives with her parents.

When she first came to the United States, she did not know much English and she

struggled a little bit. She started from the English Learner course and she got off from it in

her Junior Year. She loves basketball, music, and likes to take nature or any other

pictures. She does not like fake people and she is bad at trusting people. She thinks that in

the United States people are so different compare to her country. She used to have lots of

friends but as the time goes, it shows that who really was her true friend. Perhaps, that is

why she only has few trustworthy friends. It is true that when people grow up older they

realize things even more.

Being in another country is hard for her because she misses all the people or

things that she used to have. She still wants to go back to her country even though she

knows it is better to live here. She likes to be here but still she struggles a lot. Things are

not the same for her because everything has changed. She thinks nothing could replace

her own country that is why she is pretty patriotic. She is glad for coming here in

America because it was one of the right choices of her life. She realized things even

more, she learned a lot of things, and met so many good people.

The Story of an Hour

                                               The Story of an Hour

"The Story of an Hour" is written by the author Kate Chopin. The main

character of the story is Mrs. Mallard who is ill with the heart disease and is

struggling from the news of her husband's death. Josephine is her sister who told

her the bad news and Mrs. Mallard threatens herself and others.

From the Kate Chopin's characters always seek or look for freedom from

the society or even marriage. "The Story of an Hour" is basically a woman who

wanted a freedom from the marriage.

The main character Mrs. Mallard (Louise Mallard) was a pretty woman

when she was young. However, as the time flies everything heals and changes.

Mrs. Mallard has changed like everybody else, she is old and has a dull stare in her

eyes. The narrator also mentions that the main character Louise Mallard is afraid of

something. Mrs. Mallard was happy and sad at the same time. She was happy

because she is no longer under control of her husband or someone else. That's why

she said "Free! Body and Soul free!" She kept whispering that she is "free". She

was sad because she lost her husband and she needs his support. Still the main

character thinks that she would be the master of herself because now she has no one

to live for or serve for.
She was spending the days alone but one day her husband showed up. The

narrator made the main character to die from the shock. On the story says that she

was happy and died from the joy. Everything happened so quick and happened so

sudden. That is why the narrator made the end of the story as ironic as possible.

Framed Found Poem

One way is to smash the head of the man,
who perpetrates injustice and to get your own
               head smashed in the process.

               Pride makes a victorious nation,
               Peace makes a better world.

No country has ever become, or will ever become,
               happy though the nation.
A nation does not rise that way; it only falls further.

(pg 244. from On Nonviolent Resistance)

If no one stands, then no one will,
If at least one stands, then some will.
"How can you advocate breaking some laws,
              and obeying others?"
The answer is there are just and unjust laws.
A just law is squares law of God.
An unjust law is a minority had no part in enacting.
People have rights and everyone must have rights.
It doesn't matter whether we are black, white,
              brown, or any other colors;
What matters is we are all human beings.

(pg 245-246. from Letter from Birmingham City Jail)

The character inherent in the American people,
              has done all that has been accomplished;
              It's better off to struggle,
              Instead of pleasing someone.
              Government is at best but an expedient;
              But most governments are inexpedient.
              Expedient would willingly succeed in letting one another alone;
Let every man make known that,
what kind of government would command his respect.
And that will be one step toward obtaining it.

(pg 236-237. from Resistance to Civil Government)
